Description:
Explore the legendary remains of Ephesus on this full-day sightseeing tour from Marmaris, including round-trip transfers from your hotel.
Start your journey through history at the House of the Virgin. It is recorded that St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Christ, and that she spent her last days in the small house on Mount Bulbuldagi (Koressos). Now a popular pilgrim site for Christians and Muslims, the house has received the official sanction of the Vatican.
Next, explore the striking ruins of Ephesus. One of the most breathtaking sites is the remains of the Odeon Theatre, a semi-circular structure with a capacity for up to 1,400 spectators. See the Pollio Fountain, decorated with stunning works of ancient Roman art and statues carved into marble slabs.
Go to the Gate of Heracles and admire the reliefs of Heracles built into the gate tower, and the second level reliefs of Heracles wrapped in a Nemea lion skin.
Along the way, you will stop at the Temple of Hadrian and Ephesus Library. Completed by the Romans in 117AD, the Library is perhaps the most awe-inspiring façade still standing, with columns, statues and windows towering above you.
